Renfrew Rocks Expand as Coaching Appointments Confirmed
Renfrew, Scotland | Renfrew Rocks are delighted today to confirm the coaching appointments for 2022-23 as the club expands with a new senior side, growing the development opportunities available in the club. The senior section within the club will now grow to 4 teams, catering for all levels of ability and providing multiple avenues for growth for youth players moving up the club.
Johnathan MacLeod will remain in place as Head Coach of the clubs 1st team along with Assistant Kevin McDonald as they embark on a new challenge in the top flight of Scottish Basketball, following their undefeated season in SBC Division 2. The team will leave the Strathclyde league to focus solely on the new season amidst a potential 54 game schedule with partners UWS. The team will be looking to improve on last seasons Scottish Cup semi-final appearance.
Renfrew Rocks 2nd team head coach, Chris McDonald, will take a new squad into the top division in the Strathclyde league, filling the vacant position left by the 1st team. McDonald and the squad will play a vital role in player development and work closely with the clubs 1st team.
Paul Greville will make a return to the coaching ranks and take over the Division 2 Strathclyde team for 2022-23. Playing an important role in the player pathway within the club and providing new opportunities for development to new and current players.
Michael Gourlay will once again take the reins of the Division 3 side, providing an environment for new and graduating players to get acclimatised to senior basketball. Supported by Pete Cowan at the U16 level and Fraser Canning with the clubs U18 side.
