Rocks Seeded as Scottish Cup Draw Announced

Renfrew Rocks Seeded in Countries Top 8, First Round Bye the Reward

Renfrew, Scotland | Following on from the memories of a remarkable 2021-22 season that saw Renfrews inaugural Scottish Cup journey reach the fantastic heights of a Final Four, the 3rd edition of Renfrews quest for National glory has been announced, with a bountiful reward for last seasons top flight survival.

Seeded in the top 8 teams in the country has proved favourable for the squad as they have earned a first round bye in the knockout competition. The bye, that means direct entry into the latter stages - Round of 16, pushes the opening of the 2023-24 campaign back a week with the team not involved in the first weeks action.

Renfrew will host Dunfermline Reign on the weekend 4th November. Details will be released in due course.

The match up will relive that superb 2021 semi final, that saw Renfrew fall in the dying moments, following romping through D2 and D1 opponents in their first ever Scottish Cup Campaign. The team will be looking to improve on last seasons showing that saw them fall in the opening round to then defending champions, Falkirk Fury.

Speaking on the draw, Head Coach Johnathan MacLeod commented,

I am excited by the draw, it is a great challenge for us to open up the Cup campaign, and we are all delighted to do so at home. Dunfermline are a great team, Jimmy is a superb coach and they have some really talented individuals, we will need to be prepared for the challenge. We have a lot riding on the game, a loss in last years 1st round and 2 dropped games to Reign in the regular season, the boys are motivated to do well.

Elsewhere in the Cup, Edinburgh Kings sit as the only Division 1 team to play in the first round of the competition. Progression past Dunfermline will see Renfrew take on the winners of either Ayr Storm v North Lanarkshire Titans or Stirling University v Dundee Madsons.
