Rocks Retain Core For Upcoming Season

Renfrew, Scotland | With preseason underway, Renfrew Rocks are delighted to confirm that a number of the 2022/23 core have resigned for the 2024 season. Returning to the National League squad are; Baraa Fadel; Callum Brand; Liam Stevenson; Mathew Keegan; Milo Lockhart; Shay Graham and Shiloh Wakazadi.

Coaches Johnathan MacLeod and Kevin McDonald have began assembling their squad for the clubs 2nd season in Scottish Basketball's top flight by first retaining a core group of last seasons team - a key objective over the summer.

Assistant Coach Kevin McDonald commented;

It's great to bring a strong core of guys back from last year. We continue to look to develop and this is a long term project. We were keen when we began our National League venture to strengthen our core group of guys each year to ensure we can grow year on year and I am pleased to say we are achieving this.

Newly appointed club captain Liam Stevenson returns for his 3rd year with the club, in his second spell, after beginning his youth career in Renfrew. Also returning for their 3rd year is Shiloh Wakazadi and Vice-Captain Milo Lockhart, having also spent a previous 3 seasons with the club prior to the National League venture. Six foot five Kiwi Shay Graham re-signs with the club for his 2nd year along with Baraa Fadel, Callum Brand and standout Mathew Keegan.

Speaking on re-signing, Captain Liam Stevenson commented;

It is great to be trusted with the role of Captain this year, I was fortunate to have a great Co-Captain in Marcus Doyle last year who helped me develop some key traits in understanding and helping players develop and gel and it'll be great to put that to work this year with the help of my fellow team leader Milo Lockhart.
It's going to be a tough year with the league restructuring to a more competitive eight-team league, but I feel that we have a squad that can compete, and more than hold our own against some of National League's "big dogs".
Excited to see what we are going to achieve - let's get it!

Renfrew are excited to announce new signings in the coming days to welcome to Renfrew Leisure Centre. You can see all the signings in action at our Home Opener v Falkirk Fury on Sunday 22nd October!
